- Would someone be kind enough to remind me of one single
- important contribution to the Web or the Internet that
- is written in eiffel? You'd think that Bertie would give
- it up already.
-
- This was uncalled for. Dr Meyer has been, and continues to be, a
- major contributor to the discipline of OO. And the Eiffel language
- remains a model for a well-thought-through language. I strongly
- recommend that you purchase and *read* "Object Oriented Software
- Construction" by Bertrand Meyer. There is much to be learned in that
- book.
-
- The only reason OO has any credibility is that it is
- almost perfect for managing real estate on our monitors,
- and we all use monitors.
-
- This is quite incorrect. The applicability of OO to GUI systems is
- not specific. It is simply a manifestation of the applicability of OO
- to software engineering in general. OO is a discipline which has to
- do with the structure of software applications, not with the
- applications themselves.
